The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking dynamic individuals to join the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) in St. Peter, Minnesota as Officer of the Day. The Officer of the Day is responsible for the supervision of Assistant Group Supervisors and Security Counselors at MSOP St. Peter and will design and organize program service delivery systems to their assigned work area. The Officer of the Day is responsible for promoting and supporting the mission and treatment philosophies of a client population represented by diverse cultures and needs, which require continued attention to ensure that dignity and respect are maintained in the process of providing a safe and secure setting. This position acts as the liaison between MSOP and the criminal/civil court systems and interacts with numerous professionals both within the Department of Human Services and with other agencies and entities. The Officer of the Day leads and supervises Assistant Group Supervisors (AGS) and Security Counselors at the St. Peter campus of the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP). The Officer of the Day provides oversight and support to Alternative and/or Conventional programming residential units. Exceptional communication skills are a must as the Officer of the Day works with a variety of security and support staff to create an environment which adheres to policies and procedures while maintaining effective relationships with clients. As part of this team, the Officer of the Day promotes and supports the mission and treatment philosophies of a client population represented by diverse culture and needs which require continued attention to ensure that dignity and respect are maintained in the process of providing a safe and secure setting. Primary Responsibilities Include: *Providing oversight to staff to ensure duties are performed and achieved in a manner that supports the Minnesota Sex Offender Program mission and treatment philosophies. *Managing all aspects of employee training including training development, performance evaluation and identifying training needs. *Serving as a resource in the development and implementation of policies and procedures. *Promoting client participation in treatment programs and supporting pro-social interactions. *Managing and monitoring the physical, social, and therapeutic setting in order to maintain a safe and secure environment.

Have three (3) years professional experience in a therapeutic, residential or corrective environment. Experience must include the following: *Case management, monitoring, or delivery of therapeutic services to individuals; *Supervising, mentoring, or providing lead work to staff A Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Rehabilitation Therapy, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences or a related field may be substituted for 1 year of experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Rehabilitation Therapy, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences or a related field may be substituted for 6 months of experience. OR An equivalent combination of the above
